I’m thrilled to announce the full release of my new game, created for the WhiskeyDing0 X-Mas Game Jam! This anomaly-based horror game blends a chilling story, engaging gameplay, and an immersive aesthetic—all developed using open-source tools.
The Story Behind the Game
Krampus is here to punish the naughty, and unfortunately, you’ve made his list. After being kidnapped and taken to his eerie hideout, you discover that you’re next on the menu. The only way to survive is by escaping—if you can recognize the anomalies hidden in his chaotic, ever-changing lair.
Built with Godot and GDScript
This game was developed using the Godot engine and GDScript, and the choice of Godot was intentional. I wanted a development platform that aligned with the spirit of open source. Godot’s flexibility, lightweight design, and active community made it the perfect engine for this project. Its open-source nature allowed me to create a game while also contributing to a movement I deeply believe in—software that’s free for everyone to use, improve, and share.
Low-Poly Art Style
The game’s aesthetic features a distinct low-poly art style, giving it a unique visual charm that contrasts with its eerie atmosphere. Many of the assets come from Synty Studios, whose models set the foundation for Krampus’ hideout. I also designed some custom assets myself to ensure the world felt personal and cohesive.
The Beta Version: Lessons Learned
The Beta version, released around New Year, served as a valuable learning experience. WhiskeyDing0 played it live on stream and managed to escape in just 10 minutes! While it was great to see someone enjoying the game, I knew it needed more complexity and challenge to truly deliver the horror experience I had envisioned.
What’s New in the Full Release?
I’ve taken the feedback and observations from the Beta to make significant improvements:
- More Anomalies: The hideout is now brimming with more strange occurrences to keep players on edge.
- Increased Difficulty: The environment is packed with additional objects and details, making it harder to identify what’s out of place. It’s a true test of observation and focus.
- Bug Fixes: I resolved several bugs from the Beta to ensure a smoother, more polished experience.
Free to Play, Open Source, and Cross-Platform
Like the engine it was built on, this game is completely free and open source. It’s available for both Linux and Windows players, making it accessible to as many people as possible. If you’re curious about how the game was made, you can explore the source code on GitHub, tweak it, or even build upon it yourself.
Thank You for the Support
I’d like to thank the WhiskeyDing0 X-Mas Game Jam for inspiring this project, Synty Studios for their incredible assets, and everyone who played the Beta and offered feedback. Your insights and support were instrumental in making this game a reality.

The full game is out now—download it, test your observation skills, and see if you can escape Krampus’ hideout. I’d love to hear your thoughts, see your playthroughs, and find out if you can outsmart the anomalies in time.
